Foundation Course Theory & Practice
Description
Lato Senso Course
comprising Academic Lectures, practical sessions, scientific study
course work, and clinical literature review plus directed & guided
home-study. The Course is based on the Original Teachings of
Chiropractic Method of Adjustments.
Aims
Development of the
knowledge & transferable skills required to begin applying the
Philosophy, Principles & Concepts of Chiropractic Adjustment in
practice; and to stimulate further future academic and practical
interest in studies relating to the Anatomical and Physiological
functioning of the Physical, Mental and Spiritual bodies (how to
same interact one with each other) and its relations to the Creator.
Please Note
The Course serves
no intention to qualify the student to the level of a Chiropractic
doctor.
The Course is a Foundation Course on the main Classical Chiropractic
Adjustments, its methods and techniques.
School students who successful complete the course are trained to
treat common conditions in a safe manner.
School Graduates should not treat patients with chronic conditions,
but refer them for treatment with a well experienced Chiropractic
doctor.
Assessment Criteria
Fulfilment of the
learning outcomes relating to each module; and meeting the
attendance expectation of 100%. Students who for any given reason
who miss the certain class will have to take those missed classes
before a Diploma is awarded.
Please note: Those students who miss
classes and do not take at a later date those missed classes will be
awarded a Certification of Attendance to the Course stating
the total of Hours attendance and which modules where attended.
Assessment Methods
Written course work,
review presentation, case-history presentation, practical
examination by viva.
Bibliography
Set texts & references
in relation to each module; guided literature review. Reading Required:
Selected Chiropractic books & selected recommended Anatomy Books.
Course Material
Course Materials in respect
to the Teachings of Chiropractic Adjustments, this are given free of
charge, which are a fundamental part of the Teaching Materials. Video
teaching aids materials are provided for private use only and self study.
Prerequisite Qualifications
Students applying to this Course need to have Anatomy, Physiology and
Pathology either as a Course or part of another course.
Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology classroom hours should be no less
than 150 hours. Students should have already attended Osteopathic
Manipulation Course. Students should have a total of at least 2 years of previous study in
health care.

consultation, including the utilisation of well documented
assessments and recommendations in either written or verbal
form.

Conduct an effective and appropriate physical examination that
is relevant and accurate.
Demonstrate good understanding of Spinal and Joint Adjustment
Techniques.
Demonstrate proper understanding of deep tissue and Myofascial

In 1897 Daniel David Palmer, opened the Palmer School of
Chiropractic in Davenport and started teaching Chiropractic
Adjustment Techniques.

Andrew Paxton Davis, MD, DO (1898) is D.D. Palmer second student.

Dr Bartlett Joshua Palmer, DC son of Dr Daniel David Palmer, DC
assumed responsibility of the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1904. During his life time Dr Bartlett Joshua Palmer, DC becomes the "de
facto" Developer of Chiropractic.

1945
The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College is
established on the 18th of September 1945, welcoming a large class
of veterans returning from World War II. It was founded as a
Canadian institution that could represent a focal point for
chiropractic in Canada. The “memorial” in “Canadian Memorial
Chiropractic College name is in honour of Daniel David Palmer, the
Canadian who founded Chiropractic.
1960
Dr. Leonard John Faye, DC, graduated from the
Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1960, and became a
world-renowned pioneer to the practice of Chiropractic, Post
Graduate and Under Graduate lecturer and technique instructor for
many chiropractic colleges and associations in the USA, Canada,
Europe and Australasia since 1967. In 1967 he would have a great
impact in Matheus de Souza by the manner and style of his Teaching
and Adjustment Techniques.
1964
In 1964 Matheus de Souza graduates from the first
course in Brazil held in cooperation between the University of
Parana (Brazil) and the Palmer College of Chiropractic (USA).
1967
Matheus de Souza in 1967 after studying in North
America Chiropractic Adjustment Techniques with Dr. Leonard John
Faye, DC, becomes greatly influenced by his teachings, and upon his
return to Brazil he incorporates Dr. Leonard John Faye, DC teaching
material as the basis of his teaching method.
1985
Dr Matheus de Souza, DC is arrested for 8 days and
charged to practice medicine illegality in Brazil.
1987
A legal decision by a Court of Law in Brazil gives
Matheus de Souza the legal right to practice Chiropractic and he
becomes the first Brazilian to practice Chiropractic legally in
Brazil.
1980
Dr Matheus de Souza, DC established the Brazilian Institute of
Chiropractic, IBRAQUI - (Instituto Brasileiro de Quiropraxia)
1988
Dr Matheus de Souza, DC establishes the National Chiropractic
Association, ANQ - (Associação Nacional de Quiropraxia)
1992
Dr Matheus de Souza, DC was founding member and the first Secretary
General of the Brazilian Chiropractic Association, ABQ - (Associação
Brasileira de Quiropraxia)
1998
Dr Matheus
de Souza, DC participated in the first Chiropractic Technical
Qualification Course in Brazil organized by the
Institution SENAC - Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial.
